Concrete Voids- Slabjack Geotechnical

1-855-752-2522

www.SlabjackGeotechnical.com

Voids under concrete eventually lead to cracking and/or settling concrete. Voids are created when concrete is partially supported by base soils or through the use of anchors or rebar to foundation walls or through the use of Sonotubes. As the soil settles or is carried away by other means a gap opens up between the soil and the bottom of the concrete slab resulting in a loss of support.

Un-compacted fill dirt, erosion, burrowing rodents, decaying organic material even a loss of moisture in the soil can create voids. Once there, voids are difficult to fill. Smaller slabs such as walks can be packed with gravel or sand to fill voids but this is not practical for larger slabs such as driveways or patios. These need a method that supports but doesn’t lift the slab. Using an expansive polymer is the ideal material for void filling for several reasons such as;

Polyurethane can travel several feet in every direction to fill voids, fissures and holes. It has the ability to consolidate organic material, sand and loose rock. If properly monitored Polymer injection can provide support without excessively lifting or stressing the slab which causes fractures.

The question with new construction is what should I do? Settling of soil in new construction can go on as long as 10 years so the question becomes do you live with it and replace your broken up concrete at some later time or do you try and preserve it knowing that you may have someone out 2, 3 or 4 times in the next decade to shore up what should’ve been taken care of during initial construction. Immediate replacement of settled concrete or concrete with voids is not a good choice as settling is not yet complete.

If you see a void opening up under your concrete slabs give the concrete raising and leveling professionals a call we will get you taken care of.

Concrete Leveling in Washington

1-855-752-2522

www.SlabjackGeotechnical.com

Curious about concrete leveling and void filling? When we come to your site we are bringing $100,000 worth of concrete leveling equipment, tools and material, along with the experience of our crew having raised thousands of settled concrete slabs.

As we arrive on the job site, the first thing we do is start the equipment and while the material warms, we determine the best location for the injection valves and drill 5/8″ holes at those locations. For very narrow slabs settled on their side, jacks may be used to position the slab prior to the lifting process.

To monitor the lift we use extremely sensitive gauges are used that measure 1000ths of an inch. This is important so we don’t over lift the slab. Those gauges are also critical when void filling where lift is not desired.

Once the lifting and/or void filling is complete the holes are patched with quick-setting mortar, tinted and colored, if necessary, to match your concrete and the job site is swept clean. When we leave, your are free to use your concrete. We use quick set mortar that is hard after about half an hour, but you will want to avoid direct water pressure for a day.

When you hire Slabjack Geotechnical to raise your settled concrete, you can rely on four things; Superior Technology, Superior Polymers, Superior Training, Superior Results.

Raise settled concrete before it’s beyond repair.

1-855-752-2522

Concrete like anything home related has a lifespan. Concrete can last many decades if it was properly poured, finished and then maintained.

At the first sign of trouble take action. If your concrete is spalling, flaking off the top, apply a sealer/hardener.  If it is cracking there are commercially available crack and joint sealing products or hire a pro like us to do it for you.

A call to our office will result in an estimator showing up at your home or business to give a detailed proposal on how to best handle your situation. This may involve raising or stabilizing concrete, sealing up cracks and joints, applying a penetrating sealer and giving recommendations on how to prevent future settlement.

If you are experiencing concrete settlement call the recognized leader SlabJack Geotechnical. We are one of the most respected and sought out slab raising contractors in the nation. We have trained contractors across North America, worked in many states and Canada and have the knowledge to handle the most challenging projects. Whether that be a simple residential job, a commercial building or a large municipal project sealing culverts and manholes.

After much discussion 1-855-752-2522 has decided to join forces with Foundation Supportworks/PolyLEVEL to better serve those with sinking and settling concrete.

FSI (Foundation Supportworks Inc) is a leading manufacturer of helical and push piers as well as their “smart jacks” for sagging floors and having recently entered the polyurethane Slabjacking revolution they have been looking for partners which share their vision of superior foundation repair methods such as our Geo-polymer injection Slabjacking along with FSI’s engineered foundation systems.

1-855-752-2522 looks forward to a long and productive partnership as we provide superior foundation solutions and services to our clients in Washington and Idaho.

Slabjack Geotechnical foundation repair and stabilization

A settled foundation is a serious problem, one that needs to be dealt with to preserve your valuable asset.

Helical and push piers are a method for stabilizing and raising settled foundations and have been used in thousands of installations across the United States.

After consulting with a building engineer, a plan is made for the placement and number of piers. Holes are dug at the appropriate locations along the foundation and piers are screwed or pushed deep into the ground as depth and pressures are measured and recorded. Once the target pressures are achieved the pier is cut off and a bracket is secured to the pier, under the foundation wall. Once all the piers are in position with their brackets they are snugged up and the settled foundation is hydraulically lifted into position. Once levels are verified the pier assemblies are buried and landscaping can be restored.

Costs for foundation leveling can vary widely. From a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands depending primarily on the number of piers required. Other factors that can influence the project cost are the length of the piers needed to attain load carrying capacity and unexpected objects such as boulders and rip rap.

Settled Foundation Repair in Puget Sound, call today!

1-855-752-2522

As a general contractor dealing exclusively with settled concrete we are occasionally asked about settled foundation repair. In addition, there are times in the estimating process we determine the problem of settled concrete is actually the more serious problem of a settled foundation. As we have made these determinations we have been frustrated to find no qualified foundation leveling contractors in our service area to refer. If a repair Is needed a contractor from the west side of the state, if one is willing to make the trip, is required to make the repair.

With this reality, 1-855-752-2522 has recently trained with Pier-Tec and become a certified helical pier installer. This process allows your settled foundations support to be placed on solid piers twisted many feet into the ground until sufficient load bearing pressures are achieved. Used in thousands of installations helical piers are the preferred method to stabilize and level concrete foundations.

A settled foundation makes your home virtually unsellable, Pier-Tec helical piers permanently corrects settled foundations.
