Cracked Concrete? Slabjack Geotechnical

Have a new or old driveway, sidewalks or patio with cracks? The vast majority of concrete will crack. The cause is usually shrinkage initially, but settling takes its toll over time.

To avoid further settling and cracking, it is important to stop water penetration through the crack and into the base soils below creating voids.

While concrete mortar can make an acceptable patch if properly applied, it is not suitable for cracks that may act as an expansion joint. Mortar will simply crack and flake out over time as the concrete heats and cools with the change of seasons and even the temperature difference between day and night.

At Slabjack Geotechnical we use a commercial grade silicone concrete caulk to seal up cracks and joints on your driveway, in your garage or even around your pool. This silicone caulk will eliminate water making its way below the soil creating voids and settling.

For your Concrete leveling and Crack sealing needs call Slabjack Geotechnical today. Superior Technology, Superior Polymers, Superior Training, producing Superior results.

When is the right time to raise my concrete?

“Should I just wait until my concrete has settled all the way?” or “I’ll just wait until it’s fully settled.” are things we hear often here at Slabjack Geotechnical.

The answer is generally “no” because as slabs settle further, damage will often result. Cracking, pulling away from the building and/or draining water to the foundation.

While no one likes to spend money on concrete repair it’s important to realize it only gets worse from today. More expensive, less athletically pleasing and greater potential for cracks.

Let Slabjack Geotechnical provide a detailed proposal about what’s going on, how we are going to fix it and what it’s going to cost. We are professional, knowledgeable and fair. Call today for your sunken and settling concrete solution.

To Raise or Replace

The big question, once you have decided to do something about your settled concrete do you replace it or raise it?

This big question generally comes down to cost and if that is the only criteria then raising will be less costly in virtually every case. There are many advantages in raising rather than replacing, raising maintains the consistent look of the surrounding concrete, there is little or no damage to landscape and it will be available immediately.

What are the advantages of pouring new? It will look bright and new and the shape can be altered if desired. If there are fractures (cracks) especially several of them, we generally recommend replacement because raising the concrete will often open up the cracks further making them more noticeable.

You can count on Slabjack Geotechnical to deal honestly with you so your decision is the best choice for you. There is a time for raising and a time for replacement, we will present options so you can make the best choice for your unique situation.
